My 3 year old has been asking me since I made the Apple Blanket if I would make him a Mickey blanket. He's a bit obsessed with Mickey Mouse at the moment and insists on being snuggled up in a blanket every time he sits down to watch TV. So I brainstormed how I wanted it to look and how I could go about making it easy but still include a few colors. I wanted to choose colors that go along with Mickey's Clubhouse instead of just the classic Mickey colors. This pattern went through SO many revisions before I finally decided I liked it. I even ripped out half my work when I realized I didn't like the orders the colors were in. I'm happy with the final product and i'm ready to share it so you can go and make one for the Mickey lover in your life! I used Hobby Lobby's I love this Yarn and a size H (5mm) crochet hook. I ended up using one skein of each of these colors: Red, Black, Yellow and Aqua, and 4 skeins of white. If you're not familiar with Corner to Corner crochet I definitely recommend checking out some videos online and learning. I feel like I picked it up quickly and the possibilities are endless! Here's the graph for you to follow. Using the yarn and hook size I mentioned the blanket turns out to be a perfect square 45x45 inches. Its large enough for an adult size lap blanket and pretty much drowns my 3 year old. HA! I finished my blanket with a border of single crochet around, followed by half double crochet around and then finished it with another single crochet around. I put 2 stitches in each corner to keep them from curling. I think it would also be cute just a simple black and white blanket! Go crazy and get creative! Happy Crocheting!

I love the Mickey Mouse blanket. I already ordered an original Mickey pattern and made my 50 year old son one as he is a Mickey collector. I am pretty computer literate but I cannot seem to learn how to do this Doctopdf thing. I have downloaded several differeent ones but then can never find how to use it on the patterns

Could you let me know what stitch you used to make this blanket. I would like to make it for my grandson who is also a huge Mickey fan. (You can either email me or post to your website.)

Hi Carol. I’m so sorry for the delayed reply. This is the corner-to-corner crochet stitch. If you search it on Google you will find hundreds of tutorials of how it’s done and how to follow a graph to complete a pattern. It is also commonly called C2C crochet

About how much yarn did you use for the colored Mickey Mouse head? I have just finished Mickey Mouse C2C blanket. It was such fun to make! It is for my 1 yrs. old grear grandson & his mommy (my youngest granddaughter. I know I will be making another one for her sister! We were supposed to go to Disneyland at the end of this week! Thanks to the Pandemic we have to change the date! I don't know how to post a picture at this time here,

Thank you for the comment. I am so glad you were able to make this blanket and spread a little joy even with a cancelled Disney trip. I wish there was a way people could upload photos here on my blog, but unfortunately that isn’t an option. If you have instagram you are more than welcome to tag me in your projects. I LOVE to see them. @CrochetByCaitlin

Hi! I love this pattern and am about halfway through making one for a big Disney fan. I am new to crocheting and this will be my first blanket I have made. I was wondering what stitch you used on the border?

Hi! I did a single crochet around (with 2 stitches in each corner) and then joined with a slip stitch to the first stitch. Then I chained 2 and did a half double crochet around (with 2 stitches in the corner). I hope that’s helpful Comments are closed.
